USASF has released information about all the new things coming to the Cheerleading & Dance Worlds for 2016. Some of the major changes include the splitting of the International Open Coed divisions into International Open Small Coed (4 or less male athletes) and International Open Large Coed (5 or more male athletes) for levels 5 and 6. Due to this split in divisions, only International Open 5 and International Open Coed 5 teams from the US will compete in US Trials, and only International Open 5 teams from Canada will compete in Canadian Trials. All other International divisions will only have 2 rounds of competition – semi-finals and finals. USASF has also updated information on rules for athlete substitutions at Worlds and bid events, and US team member residency requirements. Additionally, the Dance Worlds will be switching venues for the first time, moving from the World Showplace to Disney’s Coronado Springs Resort ballrooms, allowing for more than double the amount of spectator capacity as it’s previous location. More information about all changes can be found here, in the USASF/IASF’s official news release.
